Support
Answers below come from how the game actually behaves. If yours is not here, write to me and you will get a real reply.
Reach the developer
DinoRyde is made by one person. Bug reports, purchase questions and ideas all land in the same inbox.
Include your device, its iOS or macOS version, the dinosaur and the trail. Most replies go out within two working days.
Riding
How do I ride on iPhone or iPad?
From the main menu tap RIDE. Swipe the left pad down to step off into Walk. Drag the right pad down to go and use WHOA to rein in. Tilt the device to steer, and tap JUMP to hop logs.
What are the Mac controls?
Q drops into Walk and E shifts up. Hold W to go, S to rein in, A and D to lean, and Space to hop. A game controller works as well.
What do the gaits and the N do?
Gaits are your gears: Walk (1), Halt (N), Trot (2), Canter (3), Gallop (4) and Sprint (5). Halt is neutral, the mount stands still. Each higher gait is faster, but needs speed to pull well.
Why did I fall off?
There are three ways. Slipped: too much rein in the middle of a corner. Thrown: too much speed in a deep lean. Reared over: too much push in a low gait, mostly on the raptor. Rein in before the bend and lean less when fast.
Why did my dinosaur collapse?
It ran out of breath. Holding the top gait at full stride drains the breath bar, and when it is empty the mount collapses. Drop a gait now and then and it recovers while you ride.
How do I get over logs?
Tap JUMP (Space on Mac) just before the log. Trail-wide logs must be hopped; smaller logs at the side can be ridden around. The Oviraptor jumps highest.
Tilt steering is too sensitive, or the wrong way round.
Open Settings. You can change Tilt sensitivity, turn on Invert tilt, or switch to Steer by dragging.
The head bob makes me feel queasy.
Switch off Running head bob in Settings. The view then stays steady while your mount runs.
Purchases
What can I buy, and what is free?
Velociraptor, Iguanodon and Protoceratops, all three trails and two natural colours for every dinosaur are free. The store sells three more dinosaurs (Ornithomimus, Oviraptor, Minmi) and colours for each dinosaur. Every purchase is one-time; there are no subscriptions and no ads.
Why does the store ask a maths question?
That is the parental gate. DinoRyde is made for kids too, so a grown-up has to answer a multiplication question before every purchase. Three wrong answers close it.
How do I get my purchases back on a new device?
Open MOUNT, then STORE, and tap Restore purchases. Sign in with the same Apple Account you bought with. Purchases work on iPhone, iPad and Mac with that account.
My purchase says it is waiting.
If Ask to Buy is on, a parent needs to approve it on their device. Once they do, the dinosaur or colour arrives on its own, even if the game was closed.
The buy button is greyed out.
In-app purchases are switched off in Screen Time on this device. A parent can allow them in Settings, Screen Time, Content and Privacy Restrictions.
I bought something by mistake.
Refunds are handled by Apple. Request one at reportaproblem.apple.com. If a refund goes through, the colour returns to the free natural look.
Progress and Game Center
Do I need Game Center?
No. On iPhone and iPad, sign in and your best score goes to the leaderboard and achievements unlock. Stay signed out and the game still keeps your records on the device. The Mac version has no Game Center yet.
Where are my rides and records stored?
On your device only. There is no DinoRyde account and no server. Deleting the game deletes your local records. Purchases are tied to your Apple Account and can always be restored.
Does my progress move between my devices?
Purchases do. Rides, best scores and settings stay on each device. Game Center scores and achievements follow your Apple Account on iPhone and iPad.
Settings and devices
Which languages does the game speak?
English, Slovak and Czech. This website speaks all three as well.
Why do I feel no haptics?
Haptics need an iPhone. iPad and Mac have no haptic engine, so the game skips them. On iPhone, check the Haptics switch in Settings.
What do I need to play?
An iPhone or iPad with iOS 18 or later, or a Mac with macOS 12 or later. The game plays in landscape and works fully offline.
Reporting a problem
A good report gets a fix much faster. Where you can, send:
- Your device and system version, for example iPhone 16 on iOS 18.4 or a MacBook Air on macOS 15.
- The dinosaur, the trail and what was on screen when it went wrong.
- What you did just before, so I can make it happen again.
- A screenshot or screen recording, if you can see the problem.
Refunds and billing are handled by Apple, not by me. Use reportaproblem.apple.com and sign in with the Apple Account that made the purchase.
